The range of options is vast in Corrèze, and far from being overwhelming, it’s a real luxury. To make the most of your stay at the Argentat campsite, here is our selection of the best fishing spots in the 19:
The Dordogne River
The Dordogne is a very fish-rich river. Between Argentat and Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, it is particularly popular with fly-fishing enthusiasts. You can catch pike, carp, zander, record-breaking graylings, and whitefish.
The Reservoir Lakes
- Bort-Les-Orgues Lake, Lanobre: This lake, covering an area of over 1,000 hectares, has depths exceeding 100 meters in some places. It is primarily inhabited by pike, carp, zander, and perch. Fishing from a motorboat is recommended for catching these predators.
- Aigle Lake, Soursac: Stretching over 25 km (750 hectares), it is surrounded by varied landscapes, from wooded slopes to cliffs. Like all dam lakes in Corrèze, it is predominantly home to predatory fish, particularly pike. The largest known specimen weighed over 20 kg. Boat fishing is permitted.
- Chastang Lake, Saint-Martin-la-Méanne: Surrounded by lush vegetation, Chastang Lake (700 hectares) is the perfect spot to feel isolated and in harmony with nature. Shore fishing is quite challenging here, so fishing from a boat is preferred. Pike and zander are the most sought-after species.
- Triouzoune Lake, Neuvic: A small 6 km long lake of 334 hectares bordered by woods and verdant meadows, ideal for relaxation. Note that water activities are prevalent during the high season, between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.
- Marcillac-la-Croisille Lake: This 224-hectare body of water features a developed beach that attracts swimmers during sunny days. Launching zones for boats are easily accessible.
- Chammet Lake, Peyrelevade: Welcome to the heart of the Millevaches plateau, on the edge of an 87-hectare artificial lake rich in pike and cyprinids.
