Located in Noailles, south of Brive, just an hour’s drive from the Camping du Gibanel, the Gouffre de la Fage is a 705-meter-long cavity carved into a limestone cliff. Home to over 10 species of bats, it is the only cave in Limousin open to the public, offering a unique opportunity to explore during your Corrèze tourism stay.

The Gouffre de la Fage is a fantastic family outing during your holiday at the Sea Green Le Gibanel campsite in Argentat. The stunning formations visible along the route captivate children, while educational workshops, available by reservation, teach young visitors about the cave’s millennia-old formation and the lifestyle of bats.
Opening Hours and Prices
The Fage Cave is open to the public from April to September and during the All Saints' holidays:
- From April 9th to June 30th: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (self-guided tours, closed on Wednesdays)
- From July 1st to August 31st: daily from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM (self-guided tours) and from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM (guided tours)
- From September 1st to September 10th: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (self-guided tours, closed on Wednesdays)
- From September 11th onwards: Tours are available based on the schedule, which you can consult here.
- All Saints' Holidays: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
The visit lasts between 45 minutes (self-guided) and 1 hour (guided). The average temperature inside the cave is 11°C. Make sure to bring warm clothing, even in summer, and preferably wear closed-toe shoes.
Fage Cave Prices:
- Adults and children over 13: €9.00
- Children aged 4 to 12: €6.00
- Children under 4: Free
Group rates: Between €6.00 and €12.00 per person
The site offers educational workshops for children aged 7 to 12 (€12, advance booking required), croquet (€3 per person), and an orienteering course (free for children under 8, €4/person for groups of 1 to 3 people, with a flat rate of €15 for groups of 4 or more). On-site amenities include free parking, a picnic area, a bar-restaurant, and a shop. The cave is not accessible to people with reduced mobility.
